It is always the parts of the body that are farthest from the heart that take the longest to regain warmth. Therefore, think about how you look after your feet and hands when you bathe in cold water year-round.
Here are 3 good tips:
- Use water shoes that are easy to put on and take off - even with cold fingers
- Stand on a foot mat or a small towel when you come out of the water to protect yourself from the cold surface (if you aren't keen on water shoes)
- Use neoprene gloves for winter swimming that are easy to put on and take off - or protect your hands under your armpits while you are in the cold water
