SHOULD I CHOOSE A COAT OR A JUMPSUIT?

For the winter swimmer, nature lover & life enjoyer:

GUIDE: BATHROBE OR JUMPSUIT?

When choosing what’s best for you, we prefer to start the other way around by asking you a few questions about how and where you bathe:
o

Do you drive to the water?
o
If you drive to the water, it can be helpful to put the bathrobe on before you leave. We call it "bare-bottom and robe." That way you’re ready to jump straight into the waves and quickly wrap up in your warm, windproof robe afterwards. The bathrobe has magnetic closures so you can easily fasten it even with cold fingers as soon as you’re out of the water again.

Do you cycle to the water?

o
If you cycle to the water, the jumpsuit / one-piece is very popular because it’s easy to move in. You don’t need a lot of clothing underneath since the suit is windproof and warm with soft fleece on the inside.
The one-piece is fully lined, meaning there is fleece along the full length of the legs. This makes it easy to get in and out of—compared to, for example, when there is nylon on the inside of a one-piece/boiler suit. Remember to dry yourself first, as you’ll then stay warm in the suit on your way home by bike.

Do you walk to your bathing spot?
o
If you walk to the water, it’s crucial to be able to stay warm both ways. Here the jumpsuit / one-piece is great, as you’re wrapped from head to toe and it’s easy to move in. You can choose to wear thin training clothes / wool base layers underneath or perhaps nothing at all. The suit is windproof and warm with soft fleece on the inside and will keep you warm.

Do you bathe quickly?
o
Is winter bathing part of your busy daily routine that you make time for, but that shouldn’t take too long? Then you’re probably what we would call a quick winter swimmer or someone who loves a brisk "tea dip", like dipping a tea bag into a cup of hot water.
Here we would recommend the bathrobe, so whether you arrive at the bathing spot in your own clothes or already wearing a robe, you can jump straight into the water and wrap up quickly in the robe after the dip, letting you move on with your day.
NORDBAEK's robes are designed so you feel dressed enough to pop in and buy a liter of milk at the grocery store or get some croissants at the bakery on your way home.

Is the bathing experience social for you?
o

Are you a social winter swimmer who loves going to the water with friends or family—or is it simply cozy to bump into friends and acquaintances at the water? In that case, you’ll often hang out a bit longer—both before and after the dip. Here it’s largely a matter of taste what people choose: Both the jumpsuit and the robe with fleece lining are great for the purpose. In the one-piece you are a bit more wrapped up, and in the robe you are likewise warm. The choice often depends on personal preference. Common to both the robe and the jumpsuit is that you should remember to be dry before you put the robe or jumpsuit on, so you can enjoy the outdoors for longer, warm and windproof, after your swim. Remember the bath mat you can sit on when you maybe enjoy warm coffee from the thermos. o

In short, the bathrobe is quick to get on and off, whereas the jumpsuit takes a few more (important) seconds to put on and take off. The bathrobe is available with either fleece or terry on the inside, whereas the jumpsuit comes with fleece. The bathrobe has a few uses: bathing trips and cozy time at home, whereas the jumpsuit naturally has a few more: bike rides, over training clothes, walks with the dog in the woods, soccer moms, on the golf course, in the stable (pony moms) and much more.
