We are a small textile company, and we take great care to shoulder this responsibility in a way that respects the people who make our products, our customers, and ourselves.

We care about our fellow human beings. We know all our suppliers personally and only work with long-term relationships where working conditions are fair. We visit the people and places we collaborate with and ensure that their ethics align with ours.

We care about high-quality materials; our products are divided into these four categories:

 

NORDBAEKs robes and jumpsuits in Thermo-Quilt

All our products are made from a sandwich construction: a windproof outer shell Thermo-Quilt, a warm insulating layer in the middle, and a choice of inner lining in either cotton terry or fleece.

Windy Ocean and Long Beach are our windproof luxury robes for women and men with fleece on the inside.

Where Soft Breeze and Wild Shore are our windproof luxury robes with cotton terry on the inside.

Our cotton terry is made to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, a product certification that sets requirements for the presence of chemical substances that are – or are suspected to be – harmful to our health. OEKO-TEX® is the world’s leading health label for textiles and is known by the mark 'Confidence in Textiles'. The label shows that the item has been tested and approved according to the requirements of the international OEKO-TEX®

All our polyester materials and fleece are made from weather-resistant materials, and the outer shell is 100% windproof and water-repellent.

From a durability and quality perspective, fleece is extremely durable and can therefore withstand many harsh and cold winters without deteriorating - even wash after wash.

NORDBAEKs hamam towels in 100% OEKO-TEX cotton

Our collaboration with an old Turkish weaving company that has operated for generations is based on their proud handcrafting traditions and a trusting partnership we have built with a shared vision to treat the earth and our fellow human beings with respect. All our goods from this partner are 100% OEKO-TEX cotton and of the finest quality.

Our hamam towels are intentionally woven on a colored thread rather than a white one. This is a deliberate design choice to create a Nordic expression that signals that NORDBAEKs Nordic Hamam is meant for year-round bathing, sauna, and the outdoors.

 

NORDBAEKs swim shoes and bath mats of high quality

Our partner and producer of bath mats is the same one we chose in 2018, and we have a good and trusting collaboration with this partner. Our partner and producer of swim shoes is a large, responsible company with whom we have a strong cooperation, where both of us place high quality and responsibility at the top of the agenda.

 

PEOPLE FIRST

Our fellow human beings come first. We ensure that our productions take place through long-term collaborations with people we know and with whom we build close relationships over time. Our partners are long-term relationships, both domestic and abroad, who share our vision of caring for one another and all the people involved in our product manufacturing, as well as treating the earth with respect. 

We have chosen China and Turkey because these two countries have very long traditions of producing the finest craftsmanship. We have been confirmed in this again and again when we have received samples and prototypes from other countries.

Our suppliers pay attention to the small details, such as even stitching, precise weaves, zippers that glide smoothly, and strong magnets.

In other words, we work with very high quality, and we are very proud of these collaborations.

Our Thermo-Quilt products are called tech-textiles and we believe that China is world-class in that discipline. We are aware that China is a very large country and that there are many negative stories associated with producing goods there. But it is also a very old country full of proud traditions and a number of craft cultures across its many regions.

We can say with peace of mind that we have only encountered exactly this: good craftsmanship and proud traditions.

 

HEALTHY MATERIALS

Our journey toward a responsible way of making clothing began already when we started Nordbaek in 2017. Our signature robe, which is the very first robe in anthracite gray, is made from synthetic materials: fleece and a windproof outer shell. Most of the other products that have since joined the Nordbaek family are a combination of synthetic and natural materials. We use a fairly wide range of materials in our collection because we prioritize functionality in our products so they meet all harsh weather conditions.

We are continuously developing all our materials and are currently working with recycled materials in part of our production. We will keep you updated on our journey toward increasingly sustainable production.
