FROM NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION TO LIFESTYLE

HOLD ON TO THE GOOD HABITS – AND MAKE 2025 YOUR YEAR ✨

2025 is already well underway, and the first eight days have given us the chance to reflect on the past year and think about what we'd like to say goodbye to and what we'd like more of in 2025.

A New Year's resolution, a lifestyle change, or a dream for the year ahead.

We all know it can be a challenge to stick to good intentions. Often we start with great enthusiasm, but as everyday life returns, it’s easy to fall back into old patterns.

Whether the goal is more sleep or exercise, healthier eating, more time for yourself or your family, or eating less unhealthy food — it takes time, patience and persistence to make new habits a lasting part of life.

Here at NORDBAEK we also have our own New Year's resolution.

Although we both swim often — together, alone, or with other good friends, our children or our partners — our New Year's resolution is to get even more outdoors in 2025.

We just know how happy we feel when we're out in the open air and by the sea — all year round! Winter swimming or year‑round swimming — winter and summer — is not only a fantastic way to get closer to nature; it also brings renewed energy, a big smile, increased wellbeing and a feeling of being present in the moment.

But when everyday life hits — and it's dark as it is now — it can still be hard to prioritise.

So we've talked about these simple tips that we'll try to follow to make it easier for us to get out into the open air and down to the water — even more often.

We'd like to share here with you:

Tips for sticking to your bathing routine:

    • Find a regular swim group or swimming partner: Swim with a friend — it makes the experience cosier and can become the loveliest tradition / steady routine for you to do together. When you have a regular buddy, it's easy to agree on when you'll meet next by the water.

    • Are you a morning swimmer or an evening swimmer?: Consider when you actually enjoy swimming the most. Is it in the morning so the day gets a fresh start, on the way home from work, or in the evening, perhaps combined with a sauna visit? Simply knowing for yourself when it's best will get you out more often.

    • Do something fun or different: Bring coffee in a thermos, or a glass of bubbly if there's something to celebrate on the water. Cosy up on a bench before or after (remember warm clothes), or serve coffee or bubbly on a floating bath mat. Come up with other fun touches so the trips are never the same.

    • Be prepared: Always have the right gear in your bag so it's easy to get going. Make sure it's windproof and warm so you don't get cold. That way, you'll look forward to the next time.

    • Listen to your body: Don't force yourself out — and absolutely don't force yourself to swim. Do it when you feel like it and when it feels right that day. Sea dips should be a pleasure, not a stress factor. It's important that it doesn't feel like an obligation, because that way you'll want to do it more.

The New Year is a perfect opportunity to do something good for yourself, and winter swimming is a habit that can bring renewed energy and joy all year round. So dive in, literally, and give yourself a gift that keeps on giving.
