SWIM IN WILD WATER

It's not only in Denmark and the Nordic countries that we love winter bathing. In English, winter bathing is called everything from wild swimming, wild water swimming, and cold water swimming to winter swimming. That's because winter bathing actually takes many different forms around the world.

Often we here in the Nordics think winter bathing is a Nordic tradition. Actually, it's not. For generations it has been a daily or weekly tradition to go out into nature with family or friends to get the cold thrill in countries from Canada, the East Coast of the USA, France, Germany, Iceland, England, Ireland and many other places. And of course all the Nordic countries, led by Finland.

We sometimes hear from our customers about their swimming experiences, and we've learned that people swim and bathe in many different ways around the world:

Whether it's wild swimming downstream in the Thames with a backpack on, swimming outings with friends in Ireland's rivers, icy swims in French mountain lakes, cold dips in unheated swimming pools in European cities, sauna and sea-bathing trips in Iceland and Finland, or cutting an ice hole for a swim in Norway and Sweden.

There are many ways to winter bathe. But one thing is common to them all: it brings friends and families together around lovely and healthy experiences in nature - by the sea, the river or the lake.

TIPS on gear that can make the experience even better

We wish you a wonderful swimming experience :)
